Do I need to be an experienced sailor to join?
While many of our members have significant sailing experience, including long-distance cruising, ocean racing and even circumnavigating, it’s only necessary that you have enough experience to be considered competent crew. If you skipper your own boat you will enjoy the opportunity to expand your skill level by exposure to many fine sailors. Some of our experienced members who are non-boat-owners charter boats for various outings and also provide more opportunities for those who wish to crew.
How do you communicate with your members?
We have a robust website with many resources. Each month we e-mail a newsletter that has information on upcoming events. Each quarter, we e-mail a colorful newsletter that contains articles and pictures of recent events. Once a year, we send a hard copy of our Yearbook to all members. This contains the membership directory, the fleet directory, and other useful information. This is a great resource to keep on your boat!
Is this group just like the Corinthian Yacht Clubs of (Cape May; Marblehead; Philadelphia, etc.
These are organizations with fixed clubhouses and other premises, and we have no connection or affiliation with any of them.
I’ve been both crew and skipper on charter boats for many years, but never owned a boat. Is this organization a good fit for me?
Yes. We are an association of experienced sailors and skippers and are interested in helping members continue to develop and increase their skill level. Boat ownership is not a requirement for membership.
What are some example of cruises?
Our Annual Cruises are typically one to two weeks in length and take place in the summer at a location on the East Coast, such as the Maine Coast, New England waters, Long Island Sound, Chesapeake Bay. The cruises offer a variety of nautical activities, including food and beverage contests, photo contests, "sail rally" scavenger hunt, dinghy racing, yacht racing. Social events emphasize opportunities to meet new friends and reunite with long-time friends. Accommodations include a mix of marinas, yacht club moorings, and at anchor.

I own a powerboat. Is this Association right for me?
If you are a long-term sailboat skipper who recently made the move to a power vessel, then you would enjoy being a member. If you are a life-long power boat owner, then our organization is not the right fit for you.
We have sailed in Long Island Sound for many years, but would be apprehensive about travelling up to Maine.
This is a good example of traveling in company of a Corinthian “buddy boat” or perhaps inviting an experienced crewmember to join you on your boat. We usually have 10-30 boats travelling to cruise locations and the majority will stop every night in a harbor. You can travel in company with one or more of these boats.
What is the cost to join The Corinthians?
The annual dues are $135 payable every December for the coming year. For new members there is a one-time entrance fee of $250. Reduced membership fees are available to young members (ages 18 to 30).
